New Construction
Commercial & Industrial Electrical Construction
H&M Electric builds the power backbone for ground-up commercial and industrial projects across Washington. From the utility service to the last branch circuit, our field crews self-perform the distribution, switchgear, and industrial power that keep buildings and plants running.
Ground-up and core-and-shell electrical
New construction rewards contractors who can plan the whole system before the first trench is cut. H&M delivers ground-up and core-and-shell electrical scopes where the incoming service, main distribution, riser, and base-building systems all have to be right for tenants who have not signed yet.
We build to allow for future load and future fit-out, sizing gear and pathways so a developer's building can absorb the tenants it is designed to attract. On core-and-shell work, that foresight is the difference between a shell that leases quickly and one that fights every tenant improvement.
As an IBEW-signatory contractor with more than thirty years in the Puget Sound market, we bring the manpower and the journeyman depth to keep large new-construction schedules moving.
Service, distribution, and switchgear
The heart of any commercial or industrial project is its power distribution. H&M installs utility services, main switchboards, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, transformers, panelboards, and feeders, and we coordinate the utility interface so energization lands on schedule.
Switchgear is long-lead and unforgiving, so we engage early on submittals, pad and pathway coordination, and installation sequencing. Our crews set and terminate gear cleanly, and our project managers hold the acceptance testing and commissioning timeline that lets the rest of the building come alive.
Light industrial, manufacturing & process power
Light industrial and manufacturing work asks more of an electrical contractor: larger loads, process equipment, motor controls, and environments that punish shortcuts. H&M powers warehousing and distribution centers, manufacturing and process plants, energy facilities, and mission-critical infrastructure where downtime is expensive and safety margins are thin.
We install motor control centers, VFDs, process feeders, and heavy conduit and cable systems, and we coordinate closely with mechanical, process, and controls trades so the plant starts up as one integrated system. Our experience spans a landfill-gas energy facility and other light-industrial and process environments across Washington.
Prefabrication and general contractor coordination
H&M prefabricates assemblies off-site — racks, corridors, branch kits, and gear sub-assemblies — so field crews install faster, safer, and with less waste. Prefab compresses schedule and improves quality control by moving repetitive work into a controlled shop environment.
On every project we function as a coordination partner to the general contractor, participating in BIM clash detection, pull planning, and lookahead scheduling. GCs work with H&M because our foremen show up with a plan, keep the sequence moving, and flag conflicts before they become field problems.
Electrical construction capabilities
H&M self-performs the full new-construction scope, from the utility connection to the final trim.
Ground-up construction
Complete electrical systems for new commercial and industrial buildings, planned from the service entrance to the last device.
Core & shell
Base-building power, risers, and pathways sized for future tenants, so shells lease fast and fit-outs go smoothly.
Power distribution & switchgear
Utility services, switchboards, medium- and low-voltage gear, transformers, and feeders, coordinated through commissioning.
Industrial power
Motor control centers, VFDs, and process feeders for energy, manufacturing, and mission-critical facilities.
Prefabrication
Shop-built racks, assemblies, and branch kits that compress schedule and raise field quality.
GC coordination
BIM clash detection, pull planning, and lookahead scheduling that keep large jobs on sequence and on time.

Frequently asked
Questions buyers ask us
Does H&M handle both commercial and industrial electrical construction?
Yes. We self-perform ground-up and core-and-shell commercial buildings as well as industrial power for energy, manufacturing, and mission-critical facilities across Washington.
Can you install and commission medium-voltage switchgear?
We install utility services, switchboards, and medium- and low-voltage switchgear, and we manage the long-lead submittals, utility coordination, acceptance testing, and commissioning that energization depends on.
How does H&M coordinate with general contractors?
We participate in BIM clash detection, pull planning, and lookahead scheduling, and our foremen arrive with a plan and flag conflicts early. GCs rely on us to hold the electrical sequence on large, fast-moving projects.
Do you use prefabrication?
Yes. We prefabricate racks, corridor assemblies, branch kits, and gear sub-assemblies off-site to compress schedule, improve safety, and raise quality through controlled shop production.
What areas do you serve for new construction?
H&M serves all of Washington, with concentrated work across Snohomish and King counties, and has Idaho licensing in progress to serve projects across the state line soon.
